Personal Injury Ads: Chasing an Ambulance?

I write about this topic from time to time, usually when I see an ad that just makes me go "what?"

But this one really had me shaking my head:

I guess it could be just looked at as being funny. Maybe he just accepts what he does and the way people look at him, but I can’t see how he could ever go in front of a jury and not have the jurors question what he did to get that particular case.

Injuryboard fellow attorney Pete Mackey had the same reaction and addressed this issue further:

The Worst Lawyer TV Ad Ever, Pete Mackey | June 30, 2011 8:56 AM

This is the kind of ad that the insurance companies and tort reformers want us to have. It has to be the "see, we told you" ad. He claims he’s working, and I think he must be doing it to make more money, but it doesn’t work for me and I really doubt it works that well to bring in a quality case.

We advertise from time to time on TV. But, we go to trial with cases because we have a good faith belief that the client should recover. Not to waste the jury or the court’s time. It really doesn’t help if the jury has been polluted by the belief that lawyers are all just chasing ambulances.
