The first week of October, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and IKEA North America Service,, of Conshohocken, Pa., recalled 5,000 in the United States (and about 97,000 worldwide) Track Lighting Systems because the ground connection in the track is defective, posing an electric shock hazard .
This recall involves white, straight track systems used to hold and power light fixtures. The recalled tracks are model numbers 00149242 and 10149246, supplier number 21338 and date stamp 1134 through 1213. The brand name IKEA, 365+ SÄNDA, supplier number and date stamp are printed on a white label attached to the side of the track. The recalled tracks are 28” and 45” long. The products were sold at IKEA stores nationwide nationwide from September 2011 through March 2012 from $15 to $20. The products were made in China.
Consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact IKEA toll-free at (888) 966-4532 anytime, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.ikea-usa.com.
