Cargill Recalls 8,500 Pounds Of Hamburger

Comments Off

As they did a year ago, Cargill and the United States Department of Agriculture announced the recall of 8,500 pounds of ground beef because of an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7.

The recalled beef bears the USDA establishment number "EST. 9400," a product code of "W69032" and a "use/freeze by" date of July 1. The product was shipped Julne 11 and sold in BJ’s Wholesale Club stores in Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. There has been a cluster of illness that alerted the USDA of a problem.

This is a Class 1 recall which means there "is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death." All potential consumers should check their freezers and immediately discard any product subject to this recall.

Customers can contact Cargill at (877) 788-4953 or through their website.

If you suffer from food poisoning, you need to get immediate medical care. If it continues or there are long term affects, you should contact an attorney concerning the problem. Early investigation can include the collection of samples, checking for health alerts, and the proper notifying of those who caused the problem.
