On Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation released updated numbers concerning 2008 death by motor vehicle accidents in Minnesota. So far in 2008, 301 people have died, which projected out to 450 for all of 2008. Such a result would be a 15% reduction in road deaths from 2008.

In the conclusion to their report, MDOT suggested that the reduction in overall deaths has been due to the increased use of seat belts, highway safety improvements, increased law enforcement, and higher gas prices reducing the number of people on the road.
