Comments Off

The death of Dallas Cowboy Jerry Brown and the arrest of defensive lineman Josh Brent for intoxication manslaughter reminds us that drivers should not be drinking. It has been written about a number of times here at the Legal Examiner:

Drunk Driving….the Aftermath Laura Mackie | December 27, 2006

What a tragic example of all of those who are affected with drunk driving. It is a bad choice and it has life changing consequences. Brent should not have been out on that road that night and Brown should still be enjoying his potential career.

These stories need to be told so that future athletes can see the tragic consequences of Drinking and Driving. It also proves that no one is safe in making the wrong choice.

Research indicates that deaths involving motor vehicles are down in Minnesota, but deaths linked to drinking and driving have remained to high. The rules are simple and must always be followed:

  • Don't Drink and Drive
  • Use designated drivers
  • Always remember that the more you drink, the more your odds of making bad choices increase.
