Summer High Speeds are Killing People on The Highway

Comments Off

The speeds are simply getting to fast. The Minnesota State Patrol is increasing speed enforcement as a result. The increase speeds have had devastating affects:

The good weather in combination with speed and no seat belts has been the usual reason.

  • A 56-year-old Pipestone woman, Lana Lewis, died in a head-on collision between Pipestone and Marshall.

  • The driver of an SUV was killed south west of Alexandria when he rolled his vehicle after driving off of Highway 114.

  • A head-on collision near Starbuck injured Brad Bigler the men's basketball coach at Southwest Minnesota State University, and killed his infant son, Drake.

Hopefully, increased police presence and discussion about this incidents will save some lives over the rest of the month.

Our sympathies go out to all of those involve who were injured or lost. As with any death in a Minnesota motor vehicle collision, there are a number of issues that will need to be reviewed. My partner, Joe Crumley, addressed this topic in a article for the Minnesota Lawyers Trial magazine. I was interviewed on the same topic.
