Thursday afternoon, Johnsen & Johnson recalled 13 million packages of Roilaids. This is yet another recall of their over the counter products. Like the peanut butter recalls of last year this one looks to be another giant story that continues to grow. Consumers reported finding metal and wood particles in the products.
The withdrawals forced McNeil’s Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, plant to suspend operations and were expected to reduce 2010 sales by about $600 million.
Rolaids Extra Strength Softchews, Rolaids Extra Strength plus Gas Softchews, and Rolaids Multi-Symptom plus Anti-Gas softchews are affected by the recall.
Consumers with question or seeking refunds should go to the rolaids website.
Consumers who think they may have suffered ill effects from the products should contact the FDA at www.FDA.gov/medwatch.

I had bought 2 bottles of Rolaids last year which were tainted & subject to recall. The company sent me 2 $6 coupons - expiration date - Dec. 31, 2010. Since that time none of the local Syracuse area stores that I frequent have carried bottles of Rolaids. The coupons now have no value. That's pretty shabby - I wonder if others have had the same problem.
