It's been another week where I've heard about a number of settlements that people made on their own with the insurance adjusters. Tough to say without knowing more, but every case seemed to be settling for about half of its value.

Maybe it felt good to get it done on their own. But, why not take advantage of at least asking someone that does this kind of work all the time. We've told a number of people that after attorney fees and costs you would be about the same place. Those cases are fine, because at least the person was treated fair.

But the people that settle without dealing with Heath Insurance subrogations, Medicare, notice to the Underinsured Motorist carriers, or knowing if it's all the coverage available are making giant mistakes.

I've always assumes it was because the person didn't want to get charged or give up "their money" to the lawyer. But, do they really think the insurance company is working in their best interest?

It's a free consultation and it can make a big difference. Seems like the smart thing to do.
