In an update to a post I did back in December, the companies at fault for the Anhydrous Ammonia leak that killed two truck drivers have been fined.
High Pressure Transports paid a $25,000 fine and CF Industries $1,400 for their roles in the accident.
The fine was based on
- Poor training
- Poor security measures
- Bad inspection practices
- Poor handling of the dangerous product
- Lack of follow up on prior incidents.
The citation was issued by OSHA in May. Hopefully, this action will save lives in the future.
It is vital to employee safety that a strong system be supported for these type o investigations.
