Recently, following legislation originating in the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, whose chairman, Rep.Jim Oberstar, D-Minn. the University of Minnesota’s Center for Excellence in Rural Safety created the website SafeRoadMaps.org. The site is filled with information that should be looked at by anyone who drives. With easily navigated keys, the sight covers topics that include:
- The statistically most dangerous roads.
- Hot zones for the routs that people should avoid
- Inform that public policymakers should consider when investing tax dollars.
The site includes state and local maps that are easy to use. Maps can be navigated by address, neighborhood , or zip code. There are markers with specific information about when and how road fatalities took place.
Here at the Injuryboard, we see the impact of accidents that take away loved ones. The highway death tolls, while dropping still reflect what happens when people speed, don’t use seat belts, and drink and drive. Take the time to review this important information.
