Food Poisoning: Obama To Improve The FDA For Consumers

After years of lax oversite and clear evidence the present administration has planned to use the FDA to preempt state statues, the election of Barak Obama is a good thing for consumers. The simple closeness of the FDA and big business should be severed.

While in the Senator President elect Obama sponsored legislation to increase the FDA’s over sight of tobacco. Thus, there is a strong belief that he will support pro consumer changes.

As for heading the FDA, Health Care advocates, Cleveland Clinic cardiologist Dr. Steven Nissen; former FDA director of the women’s health office, Susan Wood, and Baltimore’s health chief, Dr. Joshua Sharfstein have already been discussed as possible directors.

With international issues continuing to grow due to salmonella outbreaks and tainted medicine and other imports from China better regulation should help each consumer.
