Recently, a very interesting exchange took place in a U S Senate Commerce Committee. Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) addressed the President of the AMA, Nancy Nielsen, concerning the AMA’s suing of several insurance companies for their use of a database that allegedly defrauded doctors of payments, while overcharging patients.

“I do think it’s important to note that even the American Medical Association, when they need a justice to be addressed, turn to America’s trial lawyers to try to get into court and fix a problem. And that’s why America’s trial lawyers are so important to our system of justice in this country" was how Senator McCaskill so concisely addressed the issue.
