This week, Xcel Energy reminds everyone to check their gas meter for problems from ice and snow. The warmer winter kept down the piles of snow, but there was still enough this year to cause a problem. I have always been concerned about the damage that moving snow piles may cause.
This is a good time to check things like your gas meter:
A buildup of ice on the meter or in the vent can affect the gas meter regulator and create a hazard. It’s also a good time of year to check the vents for leaves or birds’ nests that might have accumulated.
