Last week, Richard John James Robinson, 73, was found guilty of 21 charges relating to offenses against boys, all aged under 16, between 1959 and 1983. He did these atrocities in parishes in Staffordshire, Birmingham and Coventry England until the mid-1980s, when he moved to California.
Reading the reports of the story this pedophile prayed on young boys by taking them to soccer matches and concerts. As explained by prosecutor John Atwood , Robinson had "something of a knack for spotting the quiet child of the family".
The Catholic Churches role wasn’t on trial but it was disclosed that the Archdiocese of Birmingham paid up to £800 a month even after a time that they knew what he was doing. They are finally going to move to defrock him after the conviction.
If you suffered, saw or suspected such events it is important to know that there is help out there. As one past victim said after the conviction "There is no doubt there are more, more, more children around, now adults, even elderly like me, who are now only just able to find their voice,"
