Over time, as part of investigating clients’ claims, we get to a lot of different intersections. Places that you drive by a hundred times before and until that first meeting mean nothing more to you than any other intersection. But, learn of someone killed or seriously injured there and the place becomes their intersection in your head.

It must mean so much more for the person or for family members. I know some of our clients will do anything to make sure that they don’t ever have to drive by these spots again. For me it is a clear reminder that the crosses and flowers you see out on the sides of roads are linked to the hurt and loss of real people.

It was with this background that I came upon a group of teenagers that were standing out at one of these tragic highway scenes. I was on the way back from court and had the extra time. So I stopped and listened. They told me about who they lost. It was a amazing experience to see the reality and emotion. I don’t know who they were , or even if they are represented, I wasn’t there to get a case. I was there to see what they were doing and remind myself of what those that we represent go through.

I hope talking helped them in their grief.
