As the year came to a close, the reports are that 2009 will be the fewest number of deaths by fire ever. In 2009 32 people died, compared with 52 in 2008. The previous record low was 2007 with 40.

This is good news and hopefully is a product of people being safer and better products being used. Our previous discussions on the topic.

Interesting point about adopting the fire hydrant in front of your property. I just finished moving snow around and looked at the fire hydrant thinking, I'd better dig it out. Okay you got me thinking so I'll go home and do it first thing tomorrow.
