Thursday afternoon, it was reported that a second truck driver died from the November anhydrous ammonia leak at the Rosemount CF Industries fertilizer terminal. The other driver died at the scene.
Investigations have suggested that a hose from one of the trucks came off or ruptured while the men were filling tanks on their trucks. Anhydrous ammonia is a concentrated nitrogen fertilizer.
Sympathy goes out to the family and friends of both of these men. In these types of circumstances, there are often workers compensation vs third party liability questions. There also may be motor vehicle coverage and product liability issues that come up. The importance of early investigation and experienced representation can make a big difference.
