I’ve written in the past about the importance of holding foreign manufacturers accountable when their products injure and kill. Mark Bello, pointed out the amount of worthless crap we are seeing dumped into this country by foreign markets. A great example of the problem was covered recently by the Sarasota Herald Tribune and ProPublica.
Knauf, the German corporation that sold defective Chinese drywall in the United States, is trying to allude responsibility. They don’t want to pay judgments for their faulty product. They want the profits, but they are trying to hide behind Chinese subsidiary companies. Companies which they are heavily involved in.
Yet another reason why we need to pass the Foreign Manufacturers Legal Accountability Act (S. 1606 / H.R.4678) in Congress. It’s time that we make these companies responsible for that they bring into the company.
