Thinking about the Child Victim Act and what it really does:  The act itself is an opportunity for anyone who was sexually abused as a child in Minnesota to bring a claim,  no matter when it happened.  The window is open for the next 2 and half years.   (May 2016)  But there is much more to it.

(update) Due to the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis Bankruptcy the deadline there is now Aug. 3, 2015

The pedophiles who are at the center are finally being pulled out into the light.  Unfortunately, they don’t get put in prison where they belong, but  the institutions that hid them and the individuals have to finally face the brave survivors who have until now had  no recourse.   There can finally be information in the public as to where these horrible people are now.

If they had gone to prison and eventually gotten out, they would have  been marked as sexual predators. They would have had to register as such.  The community would have to be notified before they moved in.   All of this has to happen now with word of mouth and published reports of where they are.

It is an honor to represent survivors.   It is important that the new law truly expose and force these issues out into the light.

Justice can be found by acting now.   A

buse of children and the continued silence by the offenders needs to be prevented. If you suffered, saw, or suspected such events, it is important to know that

there is help

out there.
