I guess some of it's human nature as people don't really want to think about bad things. It's easier to laugh it off. However, we don't laugh at car crashes or when people get injured in other ways. Perhaps there is a scene from Charlie Chaplin or the Three Stooges that is rekindled with a fall?

I wish all of the falls were just fun and games. Unfortunately, there are too many cases where quick repairs or clean up could have kept them from happening. Unless that is taken as being important, we will continue to see these injuries.

If you have a reason why you find it funny, I would be interested to know.
