Sunday afternoon, the new superintendent of Cass Lake-Bena schools was killed after being in a car accident. The car she was in was hit head on by a semi head on state Highway 34 west of Walker. She died at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. There are early indications that her car may have been heading the wrong way.

She came out of retirement and took over as superintendent this past August. Previously, she served as superintendent in Clearbrook-Gonvick and Kelliher school districts. She started her education career teaching at Rosemount High School. The loss will be felt by many through out the area.
