Consumers of the United States and maybe of the whole world can feel a little safer today. Having an FDA who isn’t a rubber stamp, having agency heads that aren’t looking for ways to head off state laws, knowing that fairer federal judges will be appointed and knowing that consumer advocates will have a say in what’s going on. All things that will be different and should make each of us safer.

To sit through a State of the Union that doesn’t talk about trial lawyers more than terrorists. To have a leader who isn’t bending over backwards to protect big business. To know that caps and preemption aren’t the first thing on the table in all discussions about people with claims.

There are many problems facing America. It’s great to know that starting today we again have a leader who isn’t creating straw men and phony enemies but will instead look to real solutions and safety for all of us.
