The recent numbers from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) show that Minnesota highway deaths again at a record low. The state's preliminary death count was 205, compared to 204 in 2011 and 244 in 2010, the DPS reported. Minnesota is again on pace for less than 400 traffic deaths for the year.

Unfortunately, these numbers would be a lot better if it wasn't for the  four bicyclist, 29 motorcyclists and 18 pedestrians  deaths that were included in the numbers.

With any death in a Minnesota motor vehicle collision, there are a number of issues that will need to be reviewed. My partner, Joe Crumley, addressed this topic in a recent article for the Minnesota Lawyers Trial magazine and I was interviewed last year on the same topic
