I’ve written in the past about a site called Risky Roads.   Recently,  I came across information about another informative site called SafeRoadMaps.org.   It’s always informative to look around your area.

My review again confirms that  Minnesota is far safer than a number of other states  But, as in the other states, it is very interesting to see the danger spots. Those spots seem to be areas that have higher amount of traffic, a getter percentage of speeders and perhaps even an increased bar crowd.  There is also the confirmation that there should be concerns about the number of deaths on rural roads.

The information comes from hospital records, police reports and government files to fully account for fatal traffic accident and is a product of  the Center for Excellence in Rural Safety at the University of Minnesota.

Hopefully,  the more information that is collected with lead to safer roads and a continuation of the reduced highway death statistics.
