Minnesota Now 4th in Bike Friendliness

The League of American Bicyclists has released their list of the friendliest states for bikers. Minnesota was 4th behind Washington, Colorado, and Oregon. We were 2nd last year, but apparently it was because Colorado and Oregon got better vs. our state doing anything worse.

The list came out as a part of national bike riding month. The website for the League provides the list and the report card for why the state has the grade they do. For Minnesota the report includes:

RANKING Minnesota 4th

 SCORING: 5 = HIGH 1 = LOW

 4 LEGISLATION AND ENFORCEMENT

 4 POLICIES AND PROGRAM

 3 INFRASTRUCTURE AND FUNDING

 4 EDUCATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT

 2 EVALUATION AND PLANNING

When you look at the rating, you will see that even with the best states, there are still a number of things that can be done, including planning to make things better for bicyclists in each state.

The bikes are out there, so we should all be working to make it safer each year:
