Last week was one of the worst of this year for Minnesota highway deaths. Unfortunately, this week is starting off that way again as we head into the holiday weekend:
Monday morning, a SUV crossed a Hwy. 169 median , south of Le Sueur, and broadsided a oncoming semitrailer truck, killing the 51-year-old driver.
Monday Afternoon, a second passenger died from a vehicle that lost control on Highway 22 near the Meeker County Road 18 intersection and slid into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
Tuesday morning, a van driver was killed after the van started on fire after it collided with a garbage truck at Benton County roads 5 and 7.
Our sympathies go out to all of those involve who were injured or lost. Hopefully, with the weekends increased law enforcement presence and education about what has been happening on the roads lately, we will all slow down and take greater care.
