Early Wednesday morning,  the  Iowa State Patrol clocked a car going  108 mph on I-35.   They gave chase for twenty miles , but were unable to stop the car.   They radioed ahead and  stop sticks were placed in the road.

Apparently despite having a flat front tire the car wasn’t disabled.  Approximately four miles later,  the car crossed into the other lane and hit a semi head on.  The 47 year old driver of the 1998 Ford Focus was killed.

 

It will be interesting to see if the investigation figures out what happened here.  It’s odd that the car was able to get that far after the use of the devise to puncture the tires.  You also wonder if they will figure out why the driver acted as he did.
