Tuesday morning, in separate motor vehicle collisions two drivers were killed on Minnesota Highways. In Todd County on Hwy. 71 about 3 miles south of Eagle Bend, a southbound pickup truck and a compact car collided head-on. In Crow Wing County, on Hwy. 210 east of the Brainerd airport, an eastbound van struck a westbound semi’s rear axle as the truck attempted to avoid the van.
The deaths come three weeks after the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MDPS) report that more than 300 people have died so far this year in Minnesota traffic collisions. According to the MDPS calculations, 450 deaths are projected for 2008. This would be a drop from 510 in 2007.
As with any death in a Minnesota motor vehicle collision, there are a number of issues that will need to be reviewed.
