Yesterday was one of the snowiest days ever for a December in Minnesota. It seems like between clean up crews getting back into winter work and icy roads the combination of speed and no seat belts has killed and injured too many Minnesotans.

The State Patrol says there were over 600 crashes through Sunday and at least 1,140 spin outs.

The State Patrol said in the crashes, 61 included injury and one was fatal.

In western Wisconsin including a jackknifed semi that closed a westbound lane of Interstate 94 near Menomonie, Wis., about 2 a.m. Monday.

A Minnesota State snow plow spun out in the snow at Highway 52 and Interstate 494 in Inver Grove Heights.

Our sympathies go out to all of those involve who were injured or lost. As with any death in a Minnesota motor vehicle collision, there are a number of issues that will need to be reviewed. My partner, Joe Crumley, addressed this topic in a article for the Minnesota Lawyers Trial magazine. I was interviewed on the same topic.
