In two separate incidents in the last week, wrong-way drivers on the highway caused tragedies to occur.
– A wrong-way driver was killed on I-90 near Rushmore when he hit an oncoming pickup at 90 mph. The truck traveled several miles before the collision. He ran into a pick- up, injuring two teenagers.
– A driver of an SUV was also killed after driving the wrong way on Interstate 35E and crashing head-on into another driver in the southbound lanes of I-35E at Minnesota 96. Four vehicles were involved in the resulting collision.

As we can see from this past week, this isn’t a problem that Minnesota is immune from. We need to look at the reasons why these collisions happened and see what we can learn from them.
