Friday morning, a woman was hit and injured by a Metro Transit bus. At 6:30 a.m. a eastbound Route 46 bus was making a left hand turn into the bus station near the 46th Street Light Rail platform. The woman was crossing the driveway of the bus station on the sidewalk when the bus hit her. She was then transported by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center. Investigations are ongoing.

It has now been reported in the Minneapolis Tribune that the woman died.   Sympathy goes out to her family and friends for their loss.

For a pedestrian, they will be covered for no fault benefits under their own policy, as a resident relative who has coverage in their home or if they have no coverage, by the No Fault from the bus they were hit by.

Beyond No Fault , the question of liability concerning the bus actions and those of the pedestrian will need to determined. Early investigation may be necessary to make these determinations.
