Last week , the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDot) announced a major project on Highway 15. The St Cloud Times reported that project would include:
One of the fastest-growing corridors in the St. Cloud area will undergo a major upgrade during the next two years.
Work is set to start next month on construction of a $10 million diverging diamond interchange at Minnesota Highway 15 and Stearns County Road 120. County Road 120 also will get two new roundabouts in a $1.54 million project.
The changes are intended to create a safer road that moves heavy traffic more efficiently. But during construction, drivers will deal with lane shifts, detours and road closures
With all construction projects it is important to keep in mind these safety tips :
All fines are doubled in work zones and those are real people standing out there in the orange vests. So most of all SLOW DOWN.
- Stay alert, expect the unexpected.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts – merge when directed to do so.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Don't speed in work zones; obey the posted speed limits.
- Avoid using mobile phones while driving in work zones.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Be patient!
