It's Independence Day. Growing up, I remember it as the greatest day each year back in Bristol, Rhode Island. There was a 3-4 hour parade, clam bakes and fireworks at night. The whole town was electric as people returned home and there were parties everywhere. It was such a fun time.

Since then I've usually watched the local fireworks and have enjoyed watching my boys enjoy the bright lights and loud sounds. I've also spent some time talking to them about the freedoms that those symbols represent. The Independence that our forefathers and many generations have since fought for. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights that describe our freedoms. Many of the same things that I get the privilege of talking to juries about.
