Medical Malpractice Insurance Rates Are Down

The cry goes out across the land from the US Chamber and their frivolous arguments that law suits are rampant. The civil filing in court says that’s simply not true. We attorneys who do this type of work continuously point out that we don’t make money off the made up claim. Now another report gives yet another example of why their arguments are as sad as their economic polices have been as of late.

Medical malpractice rates are down. Doctors are paying less at a time when health care rates are continuing to climb. At a time when everyone knows that the health care system is a mess. Could it be that claims are down? Could it be that years of forcing bad doctors out of the system is working? Could our tort system actually be helping the consumer?

Looks to me like they will either have to ignore this information or make up more frivolous claims to fight it. Minnesota has a solid system of affidavits, statute of limitations, and judges who review these claims under a system that works. It’s time that the frivolous lies stop. It will be important that Congress hold the line and not let misinformation be used in the Heath Care debate. The numbers just don’t support it.

Seemingly good news here for all, except one particular group. Maybe they’ll take some time off from the attacks, but we’ll see.

It’s just the facts, our system works well in many ways, hopefully more states will recognize that. thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
