In Meeker county, a 71-year-old Minn. as he traveled on Highway 4 and crashed into a pickup and a trailer parked on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The positioning of the vehicles and what happened is still being investigated.
In Hugo, a van was stopped on Highway 61 waiting to turn when it was rear ended by a Semi. The 59 year old driver and her 88 year old passenger were killed. One other passenger is in the hospital. It is thought that recent road changes may have contributed to increase speeds in the area. Although investigation continues as to this particular tragedy.
In each incidence law enforcement will be looking at the different vehicles involved and what their type and size had to do with the resulting deaths.
As with any death in a Minnesota motor vehicle collision, there are a number of issues that will need to be reviewed. My partner, Joe Crumley, addressed this topic in a recent article for the Minnesota Lawyers Trial magazine. I was interviewed last year on the same topic. In these incidents sorrow goes out for the families and friends that are involved in this lose.

I heard this story involved a minivan in Hugo and held my breath for a moment as I have loved ones living right in that area. Fortunately it wasn't them but sadly enough some others were killed. My sympathies go out to all involved in these tragic vehicles crashes.
